The Fall of Odell Decarter The turning point came at the Daedalus hearings. When Indemonity Claws murdered Dr. Stephen Anson in front of the world, Odell watched the footage over and over again. Unlike the prime timeline, he never found the strength to forgive himself. The accusations from the media, the collapse of his sponsorships, and his own guilt hollowed him out. Every headline became another wound: "Could G-Ode Have Saved Dr. Anson?" "Celebrity Quasar Chose Fame Over Heroism." "The Cost of Standing Aside." The public abandoned him. Exxon severed ties. Friends stopped returning his calls. Odell disappeared. For nearly a year he lived in abandoned mining towns and forgotten industrial sites throughout Appalachia, drinking himself numb while participating in increasingly brutal underground Quasar fight circuits under the alias Stone Deth. But something changed deep within him. His connection to minerals and crystalline structures had evolved after Quantum Sublimation. He began hearing something in the stone itself—a whisper of geological time. Mountains did not build. They eroded. Civilizations did not endure. They crumbled. Stars died. Empires turned to dust. Everything decayed. The earth itself was teaching him a lesson. The Revelation of Entropy While exploring a collapsed Kentucky coal mine, Odell uncovered a prehistoric meteorite saturated with exotic quantum minerals. He grew fascinated with it, its properties confounding him. He couldn't manipulate it, but he couldn't stop feeling its pull. He was approached by Dr. Xavier Brooks, a government scientist was working with the LRM (Liberty Restoration Movement). He was attempting to create weapons to stand against the Daedalus Six and AEGIS, and he saw a possibility in D-Kay. In fact, Dr. Brooks was the one who hid the unique alloy sample in the mine, using it to coax Odell into coming with him so he could help him train his powers to overcome the "mystery of the Lodegem". But Dr. Brooks was working with another agenda -- he convinced Odell to subject himself to more and more radical experiments, until Dr. Brooks psychological manipulation and forced re-apotheosis formed Odell into D-Kay. D-Kay, instead of manipulating stone and crystal, learned to unmake matter. Concrete dissolved into gravel. Electronics aged decades in seconds. Living tissue withered. Even energy constructs could destabilize and collapse. The use of his powers shattered what remained of his faith in heroism. The Birth of D-Kay Dr. Anson had believed the world could be improved. Odell now believed the opposite. Everything eventually broke. The universe itself proved it. Why fight the inevitable? Why build when decay always wins? Odell abandoned the G-Ode identity forever. The media soon encountered a new figure. A giant armored in black stone and dead crystal, his body veined with glowing fractures resembling fault lines in the Earth's crust. His new name became synonymous with catastrophe: D-Kay. He proclaimed: "Heroes waste their lives trying to preserve what was already dying. I simply accelerate the process." D-Kay began the Last Age movement. Its members preached: "Nothing lasts. Nothing should. Let the old world fall." They viewed D-Kay as a prophet rather than a villain. Rivalry with Team Icarus The greatest enemies of D-Kay became the Daedalus Six. They sent forces to kill him, but he survived. To that end, D-Kay joined with a cadre of other Quasars who stood against the Daedalus Six in the Battle of Jakarta, where four of the six were destroyed and theirs and AEGIS' power was broken. Approached by Prime-X Prime-X approached D-Kay, noting the agendas of other villains he was bringing together in an organization he called The Black Dawn. Unlike conquerors such as Empyreal or Killblood, D-Kay has no interest in ruling. His objective is far more terrifying. He seeks to trigger a global quantum cascade called The Great Weathering. If successful, every synthetic material on Earth would begin breaking down simultaneously. Satellites would fail. Power grids would collapse. Weapons would rust. Computers would decay. Civilization would regress centuries within months. D-Kay believes this would not be the end of humanity. It would simply be the removal of everything temporary. The earth would endure. The stone would remain. And in his mind, that would finally make the world honest. |

Odell Decarter was tough and determined, strong and durable, but he lacked the finesse and dexterity needed to play sports on a professional level. In the end, tough is tough, but the talent is eventually a necessity. Odell vowed that were he even given a chance to compete, he would take it no matter what. Odell, however, was never one to waste an opportunity and he made it through college on his football and wrestling scholarships, graduating with honors with a dual degree in chemistry and geology with a specialty in minerology. After getting a lucrative, but boring job with a major petroleum firm, Odell still craved physical competition. It was then that heard of companies looking for volunteers for Q-implants. Odell jumped at the opportunity, moving to Kentucky and joined Team Exxon, gaining the opportunity to participate in the 2020 Q-Games. Odell did well and it was no surprise he made the cut to attend the 2022 Q-Games for as part of the Team Duel and Open Combat along with the individual Duel and Team Rescue events. Odell was at the Q-Games when Gothmog and his minions attacked. The massive Q-pulse that caused nearly a quarter of the attending Quasar's powers to go into hyperexpression hit him as well, and he went through what Dr. Brooks referred to as "Quantum Sublimation", where his powers concentrated and expanded. Odell felt a primal connection with the earth and all surrounding minerals, and he found he could control those elements with mere thoughts. Odell saved a dozen lives that day as he protected innocents from Gothmog's elementals using earthen and crystal spheres, but the effort nearly cost him his life. AEGIS evaluated him and classified him as an Omega-level power. Afterward, he was approached by Dr. Anson about becoming a superhero -- but he saw how they treated Team Daedalus. Odell, now working with Exxon public relations to brand himself G-Ode, decided on the comfortable life and career of a celebrity Quasar, enjoying the prestige and influence of a star – something he had always dreamt of. Things changed when Odell saw Dr. Anson murdered by Indemonity Claws during the Daedalus hearings. G-Ode knew he could have protected the doctor – and the idea that a great philanthropist like Dr. Anson died because he chose an easier celebrity life tore at his conscience. Worst yet, The Chicago Tribune published an article about how the late Dr. Anson asked for your help and how he could have saved him had he been there. Odell dropped out of public view, eventually being fired from Exxon and threatened with imprisonment if he didn’t find someone to sponsor his Quasar persona. Odell went through a crisis of conscience, heavily drinking and living an apathetic existence for months. Under the guise of Stone Deth, he took part in underground street fights between Quasar powered and Q-tech augmented fighters. Stone Deth took on some of the most dangerous challenges out of a sense of guilt, seeking punishment for his dereliction. Stone Deth did well but left after he refused to take a dive and his sister was hurt because of it. He angered the Iron Hexagon and took them on after they attacked his sister, Anissa. She convinced him that he was being a fool, punishing himself out of a sense of guilt. Odell couldn't help but feel that Dr. Anson, and many others, could still be alive if he had chosen to use his powers for the greater good. It was then that he was approached by AEGIS Director Elaine Battle, who stated that she was moving forward with the creation of a new US-based team sponsored by AEGIS. Since then, G-Ode has re-dedicated his life to training and using the talents of both his body and his mind to help others. |
