# EBONSTAR ## The Secret Daughter Dominique's story began with lies. Her mother, Laeticia Lachlan, was the hero known as Neostar. Her father was Dominic Saldano, heir to one of the world's most dangerous criminal empires. Terrified that the Saldano family would claim the child, and equally fearful that the life of a Quasar hero would destroy any chance at a normal upbringing, Laeticia struck a secret bargain with billionaire industrialist Preston Angel IV. Dominique would be raised as his daughter. She would never know the truth. For years, the deception worked. Dominique Angel grew up surrounded by wealth, privilege, and education. She was groomed to inherit Angelstone Industries and believed herself to be the daughter of one of the world's greatest scientific visionaries. But secrets have gravity. Eventually they collapse under their own weight. ## The Day Heroes Failed The 2022 Q-Games attack shattered everything. Gothmog's assault turned celebration into slaughter. Neostar threw herself into the path of the villain's flames to save Dominique and Preston. She survived. Preston did not. As Dominique watched her father die, something inside her broke. The world had promised that heroes protected people. The world had lied. In the days following the attack, Theresa Angel revealed the truth of Dominique's birth. The revelation destroyed her remaining trust. Her entire life had been manipulated. Her mother had abandoned her. Her father had hidden the truth. The heroes had lied. The government had lied. Everyone she loved had decided they knew what was best for her. Dominique swore that nobody would ever control her life again. ## The Saldano Blood Seeking answers, Dominique dug into Preston's private files. What she found only deepened her anger. Government conspiracies. Corporate corruption. AEGIS cover-ups. Quasar disasters buried from public view. The deeper she dug, the more she became convinced that the entire system was rotten. Then Davido Saldano found her. Unlike in other realities, Dominique embraced him. The aging crime lord welcomed her into the family and spent months nurturing her resentment. He taught her the history of the Saldanos. The power of influence. The value of fear. The weakness of laws. Most importantly, he taught her that power belonged to those willing to seize it. For the first time in her life, Dominique felt accepted. ## The Betrayal Davido eventually convinced her to infiltrate Angelstone systems and steal classified technologies. She complied. When the operation was complete, Davido abandoned her. The authorities descended. The evidence pointed entirely to Dominique. The Saldanos disappeared. She was left to face prosecution alone. The FBI, NSA, and AEGIS publicly condemned her. Neostar used every favor she possessed to save her daughter. But Dominique no longer wanted saving. When the charges were dropped, she saw it not as mercy, but proof that justice did not exist. Power determined guilt. Nothing else. ## The Experiment Dr. Xavier Brooks approached AEGIS with a proposal. Dominique possessed the intelligence of Preston Angel. The determination of Neostar. The potential to become a hero. Brooks believed she could be redeemed. Director Elaine Battle approved the project. The implantation process was a complete success. Then everything went wrong. The replicated powers manifested through Darklight. Not ordinary photons. Not the stellar energies wielded by Neostar. Something darker. Something hungrier. During the implantation, fragments of Neostar's memories, emotional patterns, and combat instincts were transferred alongside the powers. Dominique experienced every sacrifice. Every lie. Every compromise. Every betrayal. The process amplified her bitterness into hatred. The darkness answered. ## Birth of Ebonstar The new Quasar disappeared before training could be completed. When she resurfaced months later, she called herself Ebonstar. To the public, she released classified documents exposing decades of government secrets. AEGIS black sites. Illegal Quasar experiments. Political assassinations. Corporate conspiracies. The world was thrown into chaos. Many hailed her as a hero. Others called her a terrorist. Ebonstar considered both labels meaningless. She believed civilization itself was built upon deception. The truth would destroy it. And that destruction was necessary. ## The Black Dawn Prime-X approached Ebonstar shortly after her first attacks against AEGIS. He did not offer her power. He offered validation. Prime-X believed civilization was irredeemable. Ebonstar had already reached the same conclusion. She joined Black Dawn willingly. Within years she became one of its most influential leaders. Where Prime-X inspired revolution, Ebonstar inspired disillusionment. She specialized in destroying faith. Faith in heroes. Faith in governments. Faith in institutions. Faith in hope itself. |

Dominique’s story begins with her mother, Neostar. When Laeticia Lachlan was 19, she had a brief but passionate affair with a man named Dominic Saldano. Dominic and his older brother Armando were heirs to the Saldano crime family. When Lae learned of his criminal background, she left him and fled. When Lae discovered she was pregnant a few weeks later, she learned that Dominic had been killed in a shootout related to a family power struggle. Relieved but heartbroken, she had also learned of her sister Brightstar’s death at the hands of Pilot. Preston Angel IV contacted her about accepting her sister’s implant, citing her very close genetic match to the fallen hero. Lae agreed to become Neostar, but as a condition, convinced Preston Angel to secretly raise her daughter as his own. Lae knew she did not want her daughter involved in the dangerous world of Quasars and was absolutely certain she did not want the Saldano family finding out about her. Neostar went on to become one of the most powerful and veteran leaders in Team Liberty and Dominique was raised as Dominique Angel, daughter and one-day heir to the Angelstone empire. After the infamous 2022 Q-Games attack by Gothmog and the Copilots, Laetitia found herself trying to save Preston and her daughter from Gothmog’s deadly fire blasts. Neostar sacrificed herself to save her daughter, losing an arm and part of her leg in the attack. While Preston died in the attack, Raven was saved. Preston's wife, Theresa, told Dominique of her true parentage and how she and Preston raised her as their own. She explained why her husband chose to make the deal with Neostar to raise her child, seeing that Neostar was intent on avenging her sister and that she would resent her child for holding her back. Preston knew his wife wanted a child, and so made the unethical pact with the young woman who would become Neostar. Raven was furious at first, but she wanted to avenge her father’s death – and that became an obsession. Taking on Neostar’s last name and using information from her father's files, she came to Dr. Anson, who had recently created Team Daedalus. Raven implored Dr. Anson for a chance to receive an implant and join Team Daedalus but he refused. Dominique was approached by the Davido Saldano, who had learned of his niece’s existence. She fed her frustrations and convinced her to use her computer skills to attack Dr. Anson and his foundation. Dominique learned, too late, that Saldano was only using her to steal top government technologies. She was arrested, but the Davido Saldano swore to her that he would make her take her place in the crime family. The NSA worked with the FBI to have Raven charged with serious crimes. But it was only through the intervention of AEGIS, with Neostar’s influence, that she was cleared of charges. Dr. Xavier Brooks contacted AEGIS Director Elaine Battle about a proposition – grooming Raven as a replacement for Neostar. Realizing that Raven had much of the same education and aptitudes as her mother, Neostar, as well as the training and education provided to her by her scientist father, Preston Angelstone, Director Battle agreed to the proposal. Raven, seeing a chance to right her life and gain powers that would protect from a growing roster of Quasar criminals, agreed to accept a Q-implant. The procedure worked perfectly, but the replication of powers was slightly different. Raven had control of something called a Darklight, a form of anti-photon that had so far only been seen in the famous Shadowstrike. With her mother’s guidance and the training from Dr. Brooks. Raven learned to turn her powers into a potent arsenal of tools for both tactical and intelligence purposes. Raven took the name Ravenstar as an homage to her superheroic lineage and has since worked to become a vital member of Team Icarus. |
