| Prime-X is a huge frame of muscle and white fur with black claws. He has a more human than ape-like body and stance, although it is heavily muscled and his hands end in menacing retractable claws. Prime-X has a simian face, but speaks with an elegant and somewhat disarmingly casual voice in normal conversation, which becomes more shocking when he releases one of his primal roars. | |||||

Prime-X: The First Ascendant Tagline: "Humanity was the first draft. I am the final version." When Donovan Schoedsack was accidentally exposed to Dr. Anson's nanite Daedalus Virus at the top of the Willis Tower, he was a mild-mannered accountant. Then everything was taken away. He began an uncontrollable beast known as the Simian. Constantly harassed by the US government, Simian joined the initial Team Daedalus, but early on he lost his powers in an encounter with Violet Plague and the Four Horsemen. Donovan returned to normal life, pretending he was grateful to live a normal life again -- but in his heart, he missed the beast. He felt there was more to be gained, and so he approached Dr. Brooks about regaining his powers. Brooks became obsessed with restoring Simian's abilities. Convinced that conventional Q-tech had reached its limits, he began exploring forbidden avenues of genetic engineering and hacking the Daedalus nanites. The result was a radical procedure designed not merely to restore Simian's powers but to elevate them. The experiment succeeded. But there were drawbacks. Donovan emerged transformed into Ape-X, a hybrid of human and primate. He possessed immense strength, durability, heightened senses, and a rapidly evolving physiology. Yet he was neither fully man nor beast. His appearance horrified the public. His former admirers recoiled. He was given the name Ape-X by the press. But privately, Dr. Brooks questioned whether he had gone too far, or perhaps they didn't go far enough. The United States government saw things differently. At the time, the terrorist supergroup known as the Daedalus Six, one the benevolent Team Daedalus, was wreaking havoc across the globe. Intelligence analysts concluded that Ape-X's unique abilities and familiarity with them made him an ideal weapon against them. Government officials offered him resources, support, and something he desperately craved: purpose. Ape-X accepted. For nearly three years, he hunted the Daedalus Six across six continents. Entire cities became battlefields. Mountains were leveled. Oceans boiled beneath Quasar warfare. One by one, the members of the Six fell. The world celebrated. But the victory left Ape-X with a terrifying realization. Humanity's greatest champions had barely survived. The governments he served were corrupt, divided, and short-sighted. Politicians squabbled while existential threats emerged every year. The Daedalus Six had nearly ended civilization—and they were only one threat among many. To Ape-X, the lesson became undeniable: Humanity was unfit to govern itself. Dr. Brooks noticed the change immediately. Ape-X had become obsessed with evolution, survival theory, and the future of intelligent life. He spent months studying ancient empires, extinction events, and emerging technologies. Brooks feared his protégé was spiraling into dangerous territory. He was right. Unknown to everyone, Ape-X had secretly acquired fragments of Brooks' research and combined them with stolen AEGIS archives, alien biological samples, and recovered Q-implant technology. Hidden in a remote Arctic facility, he built what he called the Ascension Engine. Brooks begged him not to activate it. Ape-X ignored him. The transformation lasted seventy-two hours. When it ended, Ape-X no longer existed. The Birth of Prime-X The being that emerged called itself Prime-X. Standing nearly nine feet tall, Prime-X represented the culmination of millions of years of evolutionary possibility. His body continuously adapted to any threat. His nervous system processed information faster than advanced computers. His muscles generated impossible power. His regenerative capacity bordered on immortality. More disturbing was his intellect. Prime-X's mind operated on levels that surpassed the world's greatest scientists. He could predict political upheavals years in advance, model economic collapses, and identify evolutionary trends decades before they emerged. And Prime-X had reached a conclusion. Humanity's age was ending. Not through extinction. Through replacement. The Black Dawn Prime-X gathered followers from every corner of society: disillusioned Quasars, rogue scientists, military extremists, transhumanists, and individuals who believed humanity needed to evolve or perish. Together they became The Black Dawn. Unlike ordinary terrorist organizations, the Black Dawn did not seek wealth or political control. They sought transformation. Prime-X preached that humans, Quasars, and all intelligent species were trapped by outdated biological limitations. Wars, poverty, nationalism, and prejudice were symptoms of an inferior evolutionary state. His solution was horrifyingly simple. Destroy the old world. Build a better one. The Black Dawn launched coordinated attacks against governments, financial institutions, military installations, and Quasar organizations. Their goal was not conquest but collapse. Prime-X believed civilization had to be broken before it could be remade. Entire nations fell into chaos. Millions died. And still Prime-X insisted he was saving the future. The Ascendant Vision Most villains dreamed of ruling Earth. Prime-X thought bigger. To him, Earth was merely a cradle. He envisioned an empire of evolved beings spreading across the solar system and beyond. Humanity's descendants would not be human. They would be something stronger, smarter, and more resilient. Something like him. He began constructing vast orbital facilities and genetic foundries. Black Dawn scientists engineered prototype Ascendants—beings intended to become the first citizens of a new civilization. Colonization fleets were secretly designed beneath the oceans and inside hidden lunar facilities. Prime-X believed that within a century, Earth would be united beneath his guidance. Within a millennium, his descendants would control dozens of worlds. Within ten millennia, the stars themselves would belong to the Ascendants. But first, the remnants of flawed humanity must be wiped out. He gathered genocidal villains such as D-Kay and Iron Phoenix, and psychotic powerhouses such as Syren and Ebonstar. Relationship with Dr. Xavier Brooks No one suffered more than Dr. Xavier Brooks. He had created Ape-X in an effort to save a friend. Instead, he had inadvertently created one of history's greatest monsters. Prime-X returned to the scene had a peaceful dinner with Dr. Brooks, to thank him for his work and his inspiration. Then, as the two shook and all was forgiven, Prime-X snapped his neck. Prime-X never hated Brooks. In fact, he regarded him almost as a father. That made the tragedy worse. The age of the Black Dawn began when Prime-X was born and his spiritual Father was a memory of the past. |

Born to working class Polish parents in Chicago, Donovan was a happy child. Until he parents died during his childhood. Adopted by another family, Donny became withdrawn and introverted, often showing some signs of OCD – something counsellors explained became a side effect of his childhood trauma. Donny, as his family and few friends came to know him, was always an introverted hulk of a man who enjoyed body-building and modern media, two things that seemed very out of odds with his chosen profession an accountant and CPA working for MAPS Investments. Donny was called to work at the Willis Tower office on an October morning, where he was part of a finance meeting with upper management when the meeting was postponed. Donny, a long-time Chicago resident, decided to use his corporate paid executive pass to visit the top of the Willis Tower. Weeks after, Donovan blacked out at work one morning. When he awoke, he was in a warehouse with dozens of military vehicles and law enforcement swarming around the building and attempting to prevent him from leaving. More surprisingly, his body had transformed into the eight foot tall beast known as The Simian. Dr. Anson approached the disoriented Donny and explained that he was a Quasar, a designation for a super-powered being that have been around since the 1990's. When Donny realized he was unable to change from his newly enlarge ape form, he grew sullen and confused. Dr. Anson eventually drew him into working with Team Daedalus, a new Quasar team sponsored by the benevolent Daedalus Foundation. Simian was constantly hounded and persecuted by Nancy Pelosi, who had made a career of opposing Quasars and used his transformational rampage through Chicago as an excuse to demand he be remanded to government custody. She used her influence, and an ally with FEMA, Director Jordan Willoughby, to badger the good-hearted Simian at every turn. Simian was a key member of Team Daedalus until the fight with the Four Horsemen saw the Violet Plague attempt to disempower his team. Simian identified the trap and disabled Violet Plague, but not after suffering the effects of the nanite neutralizer that disabled his powers. Donny survived that day, but Simian did not. It was not until the events of Prometheus Unbound when Donovan sacrificed his normal life to save the life of a young woman. His powers were awakened again and he went through paroxysm and transformation into a new form – a form not like the Simian and not like Donny. He became the optimal fusion of both his primal and human forms, and adopted the name the media granted him after his premiere appearance -- Ape-X. After the United States government turned against Team Daedalus, he accepted the opportunity to lead a new team that Dr. Anson had been proposing before his untimely death. Now, he is the leader of Team Icarus. |
