| Aria is a petite woman whose size seems deceptive when she puts on her Syren identity, which gives way to very large and charismatic stage personality. She becomes an alluring style version of herself, a pop personality of oozing sexuality, sensuality, and warmth. Her eyes glow red as she pushes her powers. | |||||

SYREN: THE VOICE OF THE DEEP "I spent my entire life trying to be heard. Then I discovered that the world was already listening." In this alternate timeline, Aria Wilson never truly found redemption. The woman known as Diva still escaped the madness of Doomsong. She still met Dr. Xavier Brooks. She still learned the horrifying truth that Dr. Felix Braun had engineered her instability. She also learned that Dr. Braun's work was based on Dr. Brooks theories and outlines -- Dr. Brooks was the true mastermind behind her powers. Dr. Brooks healing her implant did not heal her wounds. It merely allowed her to understand them. The Seed of Resentment Following her operation, Aria joined Team America and genuinely attempted to become a hero. For years she fought beside her heroic allies. The public gradually accepted her. The courts dropped old charges. Even former victims began speaking on her behalf. Yet something never sat right with Aria. Every interview still mentioned Doomsong. Every article still referenced her famous family. Every accomplishment was accompanied by some variation of: "Former villain seeks redemption." "Daughter of Nancy Wilson continues heroic journey." "Can Doomsong ever truly be trusted?" Despite all her sacrifices, Aria felt that nobody saw her. Not really. Not as herself. She continued to council with Dr. Brooks, but little did she know that Dr. Brooks was slowly attempting to push her powers through subtle influence of her counseling sessions. Dr. Brooks was also continuing to modify her implant through ongoing "maintenance treatments". He was trying to create the ideal tool to control masses through speech. However, an accidental discovery during one of the treatments changed everything. The Revelation The experience shattered Aria's worldview. While Aria was being treated, two assistants speaking in another room did not realize that their mike was hot, and Aria heard that conversation. "Dr. Brooks wants her pushed harder. He's growing annoyed with playing along with this 'recovering heroine' nonsense." "She could at least have the courtesy to turn into Phase V so we could hand her off to Dr. Brooks full time and get on with some real assignments." "I don't know if she's just stupid or stubborn." "Probably both." (Both laughing) Aria broke free and demanded to know what Phase V was and what they were doing to her. They panicked and one of the assistants punched the red button to disable Aria's powers. But something happened -- Aria's powers invoked into apotheosis, and her powers were reborn. She felt everything at one traumatic moment of empathy. Every war. Every crime. Every act of cruelty. Every betrayal. All born from humanity's inability to act in harmony. The world was an orchestra without a conductor. The result was noise. Aria realized -- the world was lost. What humanity needed was music. Perfect music. Unified music. One voice. One purpose. One song. Aria disappeared from that treatment room. All of the assistants and security were found dead of self-inflicted wounds. The Birth of Syren Aria disappeared for nearly six months. When she emerged a year later, Diva was gone. She called herself Syren. The name came from ancient mythology. Creatures whose songs could compel entire fleets. Most people assumed the name was meant to sound villainous. It wasn't. Syren believed the myths misunderstood the truth. The sailors followed the song willingly because the song revealed something they desperately wanted. Peace. Belonging. Purpose. The Choir Syren began gathering followers. Not through force. Through broadcasts. Concerts. Podcasts. Livestreams. Appearances. Anyone exposed to her voice for long enough began feeling connected. Comforted. Understood. Depression rates dropped. Violence decreased. Communities flourished. Critics became increasingly concerned. Entire cities began organizing themselves around Syren's philosophy of collective harmony. Her movement became known as The Choir. Members claimed they could hear one another emotionally. Scientists dismissed the idea. Until tests proved they were right. The Evolution of Her Powers Syren became something beyond a normal Omega -- Dr. Brooks petitioned the US Government that she should be considered a Lambda level threat. She could influence people. She could hear emotions as clearly as speech. War Against AEGIS Governments quickly viewed Syren as an existential threat. AEGIS declared her a global danger. The newly formed H.E.K.A.T.O.N. armored divisions were deployed to stop her movement. The campaign was disastrous. Every attack only created more followers. Captured Choir members refused to renounce her. Many H.E.K.A.T.O.N. soldiers defected after hearing Syren speak. Not because they were controlled. Because they agreed. That frightened world leaders far more than mind control ever could. The Final Conflict The climax came when Syren activated a network built from abandoned HOURGLASS reactor technology, satellite arrays, and custom-designed resonance amplifiers designed from her own twisted knowledge. The system would transmit the Deep Song across the entire planet. Humanity would become a unified consciousness. Not a hive mind. Not exactly. Individuals would remain. But every person would feel the pain, joy, hopes, and fears of every other person. War would become impossible. So would selfishness. The cost would be privacy. Isolation. And perhaps freedom itself. Prime-X Intervenes Prime-X fought her at the structure. The two fought for her hours, as he fought his way through waves of the Choir and HEKATOR suits under her control. Prime-X, however, used logic to defeat her. "If your intent is to stop human suffering, then wouldn't it be best to find a way to stop humanity -- at the source?" Syren had no answer. Prime-X explained, "Humanity is an old song from a past time. Doesn't the world deserve a new song, for a new audience?" Syren understood and agreed. Removing humanity would allow her to start a new song with Quasars -- a more sophisticated and intelligent audience. One that was worthy of her Epic. Now humanity is not the cause, but a means to the end. |

Aria's charges in her criminal record have either been dismissed or are under investigation. Aria's lawyers have done a great job of keeping her out of legal trouble, in spite of her known criminal behaviors. She had even managed to appear with Doomsong at the same time, providing some level of plausible deniability. However, AEGIS Intelligence has a 98% certain that she is guilty of all charges filed against her and even more that have not been filed. Aria Wilson was a talent child born into a legacy of entertainment. Her father owned a powerful entertainment agency and her mother was the infamous Nancy Wilson of Heart. Aria grew up around rock and roll, and wanted to be as successful and famous as her mother and aunt. She practiced constantly and many would say that throughout her childhood and adult life, she was obsessed with her music. Aria showed herself to be technically superior in every way to her more famous aunts, which is part of what drove her mad when she would perform and she would get compared to them, with reviewers writing that she would "one day reach the heights of her musical progenitors". Additionally infuriating her were the detractors that claimed that her success was handed to her not because of her talent, but because of her famous parentage. Then Fate struck an even crueler blow and she was diagnosed with a long-term degeneration of the bones of the inner ear. She would eventually go completely deaf. Aria drove herself even harder and while she scored several great hits and even hit number one song, she could not attain the legendary status she sought. She would repeatedly fire producers and band members because she felt their shortcomings were holding her back. She turned to drugs and alcohol to cope, but never stopped driving herself musically. Her obsession eventually led her to the equally obsessed Dr. Felix Brauns, who promised her that he could restore her hearing. What he granted her, though, was a Q-implant that brought her to the brink of madness and instability. Braun was seeking to create a Quasar he could control and use her money and power for his benefit, but Aria turned on him and killed him, stealing all of his research and technology. For years, Aria operated as the sociopathic Doomsong. She hired scientist after scientist to help her create new sound-based technologies to augment her weak sonic abilities. She would attack other Quasars at key public appearances, seeking to upstage other Quasars, villain and hero alike. She wanted to become the superstar she believed she should be. A well-financed legal team kept her from facing consequences for the charges brought against her, so she became an underground legend, beating the system at its own game. Eventually, Team Daedalus captured her and Dr. Anson's referral to Dr. Xavier Brooks led to her restoration and breakthrough. Dr. Brooks discovered that the Q-implant designed to restore her hearing was actually disrupting her brain in such a way that she had lost all sense of inhibition. He also posed that the implant was intentionally designed to do this, part of the sinister intent by the late Dr. Braun. A simple operation to restore the Q-implant to its proper configuration brought Aria’s powers to Omega level, but also exposed Aria to the light of sanity, and to the crushing horror of what evil she had done as a villainous Doomsong. Aria sought counselling and spiritual release to calm her soul, but what she finally came to realize was that she needed to make amends for the evil she had committed. She approached Dr. Brooks and he offered her an unusual opportunity -- to join Team Icarus and use her powers for the greater good. He removed the inhibitors in her implant and helped her design a new guitar for use in combat, allowing her to fully realize her new sonic sensory abilities. Aria has since become a loyal and supportive team member -- and in spite of the critical articles calling her redemption a "ploy and a scam by the ultimate narcissist", she has remained true to her cause. Aria understands now that the music is for the people, and the powers granted to her by the Q-implant are no different than her talents with her guitar or her voice -- that the mission is to make the lives of others better, in whatever way she can. She hopes to do this by working with Team Icarus. |
