BACKGROUND
# WINDSHEAR: THE BLACK DAWN TIMELINE

## "The Storm We Created"

In this reality, Haris Collins never became the hero known as Slipstream. He became something far worse. And humanity itself helped create him.

## THE DAEDALUS SIX CRISIS
The year following the Q-Games attack saw the rise of what history would later call the greatest supervillain alliance ever assembled. The group became known as **The Daedalus Six**. Led by the enigmatic and terrifying **Shadowlord**, the Six consisted of some of the most powerful Quasars on Earth. Their objectives varied, but their actions shared a common result: governments were becoming increasingly irrelevant.

Entire military forces had proven incapable of stopping them. AEGIS simulations projected that within five years the Daedalus Six could topple every major world government. Within ten years they could establish themselves as the dominant power on Earth. The United States government quietly initiated a classified contingency known as **PROJECT TEMPEST**.
Its purpose was simple:
Create a weapon capable of destroying Quasars.
No matter the cost.
---
## THE RECRUITMENT

Dr. Xavier Brooks was not contacted by Arthur Collins. He was contacted by the Department of Defense. Brooks objected immediately. The candidate selected for Project Tempest was Haris Collins, survivor of Killblood's experimentation. Brooks' psychological evaluations revealed numerous unresolved issues -- severe trauma, residual Sanguo conditioning, identity fragmentation, unstable emotional regulation, persistent violent impulses buried beneath conscious awareness. In Brooks' opinion, Haris required years, if not a lifetime, of medication and treatment. The government disagreed.

They needed results. The Daedalus Six were already attacking strategic targets around the world. Every week brought another catastrophe. The order came directly from the highest levels of government. Recruit him. Weaponize him. Deploy him.

---

## THE FAILURE OF Dr. SYMONS

Dr. Symons was brought in to remove Killblood's conditioning. Officially. Unofficially, Project Tempest had a different goal. The conditioning wasn't removed.
It was redirected. Government psychologists and drug-induced conditioning carefully altered Haris' mental programming. The rage remained. The violence remained. The obedience remained. Only the targets changed. Instead of serving Killblood, Haris would serve humanity. Or so they believed. Brooks protested throughout the process. His objections were ignored. For nearly eighteen months Haris trained under military supervision.

His powers grew rapidly. Every block suppressing his potential was removed. Every limitation was stripped away. By the time training concluded, he had surpassed every projection. The designation assigned to him was: WINDSHEAR.

---

## THE QUASAR KILLER

Windshear's first deployment was devastatingly successful. The Daedalus Six expected another conventional hero. Instead they encountered a living natural disaster. Windshear fought without hesitation. Without mercy. Without restraint. Entire battlefields disappeared beneath hypercanes. D6 minions and Q-gangs suffocated inside pressure vacuums. Fortresses were shredded by atmospheric blades. Three major Daedalus Six operations collapsed within six months. The public hailed Windshear as humanity's savior. Only Dr. Brooks saw the warning signs. Each mission made him worse. Each victory made him colder. Each kill brought him closer to the personality Killblood had originally intended. The conditioning was evolving. No longer controlled by government telepaths. No longer directed by implanted commands. It was becoming self-sustaining.

---

## THE BREAK

The breaking point came during the Battle of Jakarta. Windshear was ordered to intercept a Daedalus Six operation involving Prime-X. The mission became a massacre. Thousands died. Dozens of Alpha and Beta class Quasars perished. Dozens were innocent civilians. For hours Windshear maintained a continent-spanning storm system while fighting multiple superhumans simultaneously. The strain shattered something in his mind. Psychic scans later revealed catastrophic fragmentation. The various layers of conditioning—Killblood's programming, government modifications, military indoctrination, and Haris' original personality—collapsed into a single worldview. The result horrified everyone. Haris Collins reached a conclusion neither Killblood nor the government had intended. The problem wasn't the Daedalus Six. The problem wasn't humanity. The problem was life itself.

Every war. Every betrayal. Every atrocity. Every tragedy. All originated from living beings. As long as life existed, suffering would continue. Therefore life had to end.

---

## PRIME-X'S OFFER

Prime-X understood before anyone else. While governments debated how to contain Windshear, Prime-X approached him. Not as an enemy. As an equal. Prime-X shared his vision. The world was fundamentally flawed. Civilization was a failed experiment. Humanity and Quasars alike were trapped in endless cycles of violence. The solution was not conquest. It was purification. Together they developed a plan. A final solution for all life on Earth.
They called it: BLACK DAWN.

---

## BLACK DAWN

Prime-X envisioned a world reborn. Windshear envisioned no world at all. Their alliance persisted because their immediate goals aligned. Together they sought ancient technologies, Quasar artifacts, and dimensional engines capable of triggering an extinction event on a planetary scale. Prime-X would become the architect. Windshear would become the executioner. Where Prime-X inspired devotion, Windshear inspired terror. Entire cities surrendered rather than risk provoking him. Satellites tracked storm systems that followed his movements across the globe. Meteorologists coined a new category: **Omega Hurricanes**

Storms generated exclusively by Windshear.

## DR. BROOKS' REGRET

Years later, survivors would discover recordings made by Dr. Xavier Brooks shortly before his death. One entry became famous:

> "Everyone asks when Haris Collins became Windshear."
>
> "The truth is simpler."
>
> "Killblood broke him."
>
> "We rebuilt him into a weapon."
>
> "Then we acted surprised when the weapon was eventually pointed at us."
>
> "Prime-X didn't create Windshear."
>
> "We did."

Special Commentary
Haris Collins was born in Wales to an executive father named Arthur Collins and a school teacher mother named Renata Collins. His early life was very normal, but his family moved around. Moving often made it hard for Haris to make friends, but he always found good friends in books, which he read voraciously. He became an amateur youth author, writing for various publications that accepted mail in submissions.

Haris was sent to some of the finer schools and when he attended Oxford, he excelled in writing and literature. He received his degree a year early and began his post-graduate work with little delay, completing his doctorate in literature within just over two years, an astounding accomplishment, but for Haris, it was still unfulfilling. He accepted a post in New York but quickly grew tired of it. He became enamored of the arts and culture in Soho and Greenwich Village, and such was where he met his girlfriend, Maria Almarez. He and Maria enjoyed a short but exciting affair and in mere weeks, Haris proposed to her.

Maria asked him to go to Venezuela with her to meet her parents and Haris eagerly agreed. The surprise he got when he entered her parents home was completely unexpected -- two men with guns. They abducted him and Haris quickly surmised from their conversation that he was targeted because of his money and position -- he was being delivered by a group called the Sanguo Brotherhood to someone called the Matar Sanguo, aka the Killing Blood. Once in a mountain facility, Haris was subjected to a number of medical tortures. After going through extensive mental conditioning, Haris was subjected to Q-tech experimentation, where Matar Sanguo sought to imbue in him Quasar powers, as he had apparently done to dozens of others.

Haris expressed Quasar powers, just as Killblood had intended, and began training by Killblood’s men. Shortly after his first mission, he was rescued by mercenaries hired by his parents. In a daring raid, a mercenary group known as the Akili Moja snuck into the facility where he was being held. When Haris returned home, it took months of therapy heal his trauma. He wrote almost nonstop in these months, his imagination purging his mind of harrowing nightmares, some imaginary and some real, that took root during his captivity. Eventually, the stories came to be published as the "September Falls" series. The novels were immediate successes and Haris became a celebrity almost overnight, both because of his writing and because his Quasar nature had been revealed by reporters trying to dig up a story on this new superstar author. Haris still had no identity for his Quasar and overtly refused to use his abilities for fear of awakening the horrible instincts implanted by Killblood’s conditioning. His desire to remain outside of the world of Quasars and the violence inherent in the use of his powers kept him as just a celebrity for months, writing and

Haris went through a period of celebrity and was granted exempt status by AEGIS. He would have gone on being a celebrity had it not been for the 2022 Q-Games attack. Haris was not at the event but he knew people who both died and survived the attack. He made a decision that no matter what his personal stance on physical violence may be, he had a duty to use his powers. Arthur Collins put in him contact with Dr. Xavier Brooks, a scientist on the US West Coast who was preparing an enterprise involving Quasars.

After a short discussion and some evaluation, Dr. Brooks took on Haris, and they came up with the moniker Slipstream. With the aid of a Quasar named Mindario, a retired psychic hero, they purged Haris of the conditioning hidden in his mind by Killblood. Removing the blocks also enabled Slipstream to unlock his powers, removing the blocks that kept him at Beta level. Slipstream began his training to become a Quasar hero and began his quest to finding a way to not just helping people escape reality, but to making their realities better.
