AEGIS Notations for Icarus Authorized Personnel Only

Odell Decarter was tough and determined, strong and durable, but he lacked the finesse and dexterity needed to play sports on a professional level. In the end, tough is tough, but skill is eventually a necessity. Odell, however, was never one to waste and opportunity and he made it through college on his football and wrestling scholarships, graduating with honors with a degree in geology with a specialty in minerology. After getting a lucrative, but boring job with a major petroleum firm, Odell still craved physical competition. It was then that heard of companies looking for volunteers for Q-implants. Odell jumped at the opportunity, moving to Kentucky and joined Team Exxon, gaining the opportunity to participate in the 2020 Q-Games. Odell did well and it was no surprise he made the cut to attend the 2022 Q-Games for a few individual events.

Odell was at the Q-Games when Gothmog and his minions attacked. The massive Q-pulse that caused nearly a quarter of the attending Quasar's powers to go into hyperexpression hit Odell as well, and he went through what Dr. Brooks referred to as "Quantum Sublimation", where his powers snapped from the overloaded, expanding and reforming. Odell felt a connection with the earth and all minerals around him, and he found he could control those elements with mere thoughts. Odell was one of the lucky ones, as most of the Quasars who were struck by the massive Q-pulse orchestrated by the terrorist Copilots suffered loss of powers, morbid injury, and even death as their powers spun wildly out of control. Odell used his transformation into an Omega level Quasar without thought. He saved a dozen lives that day as he encased victims of Gothmog's elementals in crystal spheres, but the effort nearly cost him his life. Afterward, he was approached by Dr. Anson about becoming a superhero -- but he saw how they treated Team Daedalus and he decided against it. Odell enjoyed his comfortable life and career and the prestige he had.

Things changed when Odell saw Dr. Anson murdered by Indemonity Claws during the Daedalus hearings. He went through a crisis of conscience, drinking and apathetic for months. Odell took part in underground street fights between Quasar powered and Q-tech augmented fighters. He did well but left after he refused to take a dive and his sister was hurt he made an enemy of the Iron Hexagon gang, who ran the fights. Odell realized he had been punishing himself out of guilt. He couldn't help but feel that Dr. Anson, and many others, might still be alive if he had chosen to use his powers for the greater good. It was then that he was approached by AEGIS Director Elaine Battle, who stated that she was moving forward with the creation of a new US-based team sponsored by AEGIS. SInce then, Odell, taking the name G-Ode, has re-dedicated his life to training living being the hero he should have been.
