| AEGIS Notations for Icarus Authorized Personnel Only When Laeticia Lachlan was 19, she had a brief but passionate affair with a man named Dominic Saldano. Dominic and his older brother Armando, were heirs to the Saldano crime family, While Lae didn't know about his criminal background at first, when she did learn, she left him and fled. When Dominic was killed in a shoot out a few weeks later, she was relieved but heartbroken. Until she found out she was pregnant. Preston Angel, head of Angelstone Research, had just contacted her shortly before gave birth to Dominique. Lae chose to become Neostar and gave her child up to be raised by Preston Angel IV, apparently in return for a chance to receive her sister's Q-implant and become the legendary Neostar, veteran of Team Liberty. Neostar was willing to let Dominique continue thinking she was the daughter of Preston Angel until the Q-Games attack, when she found herself trying to save Preston and his daughter from the Gothmog's attacks. Neostar sacrificed herself to save her daughter, losing an arm and part of her leg in the attack. While Preston died in the attack, Raven was saved. Preston's wife, Theresa Angel, told Raven about her parentage and how she and Preston raised her as her own, as they were unable to bear children on their own. Raven was furious at first, but then realized that her mother's decision was not based as much on personal desire as it was a measure meant to protect her. She understood her mother became Neostar to avenge the death of her sister -- she understood because she also felt that same need. Taking on her mother's last name and using information from her father's files, she came to Dr. Anson, who had recently created Team Daedalus. Raven implored Dr. Anson for a chance to receive an implant and attempt to become a superhero like her mother. Dr. Anson refused at first, but he did know of *another* team that was looking for new members. Neostar disapproved at first, but after some conflict, she came to realize that her daughter was making not different decision than she made. Neostar also acknowledged that while she wanted to protect her daughter, the world was facing threats that needed greater heroes. Realizing that Raven had much of the same education and aptitudes as her mother, Neostar, as well as the training and education provided to her by her scientist father, Preston Angelstone, Dr. Anson finally relented suggested her as a candidate to Dr. Xavier Brooks. Dr. Broooks replicated the Neostar implant, using techniques and methods garnered from the Brightstar and Neostar implant projects, and they successfully empowered Raven. Raven's powers proved to be very similar to her mother's and her aunt, the late Brightstar. Raven took the name Ravenstar as an homage to her superheroic lineage and has since worked to become a vital member of Team Icarus. Recently, Raven has learned that the Saldano crime family had been having her followed. She also learned that they were watching and menacing Theresa Ravenstar, her childhood mother. When she confronted Armando, he revealed that he blamed her for her brother's death and has vowed revenge against both Neostar and her for his beloved brother's death. "Your bloodline is a curse on all my family has built, and curses must be expunged, through blood and by deed." While they have done nothing overtly illegal, the head of the Saldano family has taken measures to exact its revenge. This includes working with a sinister mercenary Quasar team known as the Whisper Alliance, led by the ruthless Dr. Symantro. Ravenstar has barely begun a life as a hero, but she has already inherited, along with her mother's powers, some of her mother's more dangerous enemies. |
